Reiss Butterworth Presentation and Interview
Player of Month
BullBuilder recently chatted to U19s player of the month for May Reiss Butterworth.
Reiss said “It feels very special to win this award. It means a lot and it’s great to receive recognition.”
Regular followers of the U19s will be used to seeing Reiss playing a pivotal role in the side but his highlight this season so far was a for a superb piece of individual play, Reiss said “The 50 metre try I scored versus Newcastle Thunder was my highlight.” Supporters can watch this again on the Bulls twitter feed where Reiss beats 5 players to score a superb try.
As far as longer term ambitions are concerned Reiss has his feet on the ground and has set his sights on becoming a professional rugby league player for the Bulls. Reiss said “I’d like to thank Matt Diskin, all the Bulls coaches, John Bastion and my Mum and Dad, they have all contributed and helped me to get where I am.”
Reiss had no shortage of interest from other clubs so when asked why he chose the Bulls he said “There’s a good set of lads here, great coaching staff who are very supportive and I feel comfortable approaching and speaking to them.”
The U19s had a great win at home versus Wakefield on 11 June and their next game is coming up away at Huddersfield on 24 June.
BullBuilder are holding a sponsored walk on 16 July where participants will walk from Odsal to Batley for the Bulls league match. In a repeat of the great effort by Bulls fans last season in the “Dewsbury Dawdle” this year BullBuilder is hoping to beat last year’s total of around £2000. All funds will go to BullBuilder. Recently BullBuilder has funded a new sports analysis system which allows the coaching staff to research team and individual performance, review opposition, analyse statistics from games and training to improve skills and technique and minimise injury. It also links to education and development.
